The Historic Walk in the Marais
Cross the winding alleys of the oldest district of Paris: the Marais. Its name reminds inhabitants and visitors alike that it was once an old swamp area, “marais” meaning “swamp” in English. It designated the entire flood zone on the right bank of the Seine.
Today, pretty cafes, private mansions, and designer boutiques have taken over the area. Here, the numerous historical treasures cover every street corner! Its exceptional architecture will dazzle you throughout your trip.
Here are the must-sees: Place des Vosges, rue des Rosiers, rue des Francs Bourgeois, rue de Bretagne, and place du Marché Sainte Catherine.
The Student Walk in the Latin Quarter
Feel like going back to your college days? Want to imagine yourself studying at the Sorbonne? The head to the Latin Quarter! Located on the left bank of the Seine, between Notre-Dame de Paris and the Luxembourg garden, it will dazzle you with its monuments and architecture.
Walk across the Quartier de la Colline, pass in front of the magnificent Lycée Henri IV, the Saint-Etienne du Mont church, the Pantheon, and go towards the Sorbonne district.
This lively district, full of cinemas, small cafes, and bookstores is reputed to be the district of intellectuals.
The Sorbonne, Assas, the École Normale Supérieure and many prestigious high schools have settled here. This student tradition dates back to the 13th century, when many schools were born in the neighborhood. Its name also refers to the courses given in the Middle Ages, exclusively in Latin.
The Bohemian Parenthesis in Montmartre
The paved alleys and small cafes give Paris a village feel. Walking around the neighborhood is probably the best way to discover it. Let yourself be carried away by your desires, each street is as pretty as the next.
Its astonishing maze of small winding cobbled streets and its steep flights of stairs will lead you to breathtaking panoramic views.
Formerly a welcoming place for artists, the district has kept its charm and its unique small village atmosphere. Rather than supermarkets, a multitude of small food shops and an incredible choice of restaurants, bars, and theaters dot these pretty alleys.
Our essentials in the district: rue Caulaincourt, rue de l’Arreuvoir, place Dalida, place Marcel Aymé, the legendary Place du Tertre, or even avenue Junot.
